Established in 1951 by the Government of India to commemorate the massacre of peaceful celebrators including unarmed women and children by British occupying forces, on the occasion of the Baisakhi (Punjabi New Year) on April 13, 1919, in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. During your visit to the garden, you will see lots of little alleys that provide access to the park, which were sealed by Britishers back then because of which people gathered for the celebration were kind of jammed and were killed on the order of General Dyer. One can also see the well, where people tried to jump in to save themselves.  There is a wall in the garden that still has the clear bullet marks.
