Orchha was the capital city of Bundela rulers and is well known for its palaces and temples built in 16th and 17th century. The architectural splendor of the monuments in Orchha reflects the glory of its rulers. The main attraction of Orchha is the Orchha Fort Complex, which is situated on an island on River Betwa and has number of places to visit within it. A four-arched bridge leads to this complex. The mahals (palaces) worth seeing in the complex are Jahangir Mahal, Raj Mahal and the Rai Praveen Mahal. A visit to this fort complex is a must-see for any tourist who visits India. The temples that are worth visiting known for their architecture are the Laxminarayan temple and Raja Ram temple etc. The other attraction is the phool bagh and is a well laid garden which has fountains and pavilions. Approach: The nearest railhead is Jhansi ( 19 Km). It is well connected by road but does not have an airport.
