Khajuraho is famous the world over for its temples depicting intricate erotic stone sculptures and is a UNESCO World heritage site. There are 22 temples in this temple town of Khajuraho and can be explored on foot or bicycle. The temples were built in the 9th and 10th century by the Chandelas exhibiting carved images of gods and goddesses, celestial maidens and dancers, animals and musicians, all frozen in stone. It is one of the must-see experiences in India and a great place to marvel at Indian architecture and Indian culture. A light and sound show is held every evening and it narrates the history of the temples in a dramatic manner (a not-to-miss experience). Approach: Khajuraho is well connected by road and also has an airport. There is good air connectivity between New Delhi and Khajuraho.
